About the event

Renowned Sḵwx̱wú7mesh artist Halikium Wade Baker and urban planner Mary Tasi describe their international journey to uncover

valuable documents, letters, and hand-written journals in their quest to align this material with local ancestral knowledge of mapmaker Lieutenant Joseph Baker’s marriage into the Coast Salish Nation in 1792. Embedded in this conversation is the story of a woven family robe thought lost and then found in the Helsinki Museum.
